I've been using Google Docs and Gmail for a few years and have not looked back. I've been able to completely avoid having to buy MS Office.

For Google Docs, there are privacy settings, so don't think that you have to share your docs with the world. You certainly can do that, or you could just share them with John and Jenny in your office (you can even specify if they have editing ability).

Google's email service is good because it offers unlimited space plus the ability to use your own domain name. Also, Gchat is integrated into Gmail so if you have someone on your contact list using Gmail, you might see them as online so you can talk immediately.
